Box Office: Dasara Weekend gets Overcrowded

Releasing multiple films during festival weekends is not new for the Telugu film industry. However, sometimes, because of the miscommunication or the sheer urge to get success, many films get released at the same time and dent each other’s opportunities. One of the festival weekends that usually South movies concentrate on releasing is the Dasara festival. This Dasara weekend, there are a total of six movies going to be released in theaters across languages.

Here is the list of the films that are getting released on this Dasara:

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, October 10
Gopichand-Sreenu Vaitla’s Viswam, October 11
Sudheer Babu’s Ma Nanna Superhero, October 11
Suhas starrer Janaka Aithe Ganaka, October 12
Alia Bhatt’s Dubbed Film Jigra, October 11
Kannada-dubbed film Martin, October 11

The first one to be released in this list is Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyyan, which is the only big film among the releases and can gather gig numbers if the talk comes positive. Gopichand and Sreenu Vaitla both are in bad form, but given the film’s entertaining theme, if the film gets positive talk, then it can bring families to the theaters during the festival days. Sudheer Babu’s Ma Nanna Superhero looks like an emotional drama, but there is a danger for the film to get unnoticed during so many releases. Alia Bhatt’s Jigra’s teaser and trailer provided the action glimpse, and there can be some mass audiences looking forward to it. The Kannada film Martin is publicized as a big Pan India film, but the hero, Dhruva Sarja, is not known to many, and the film relies on a strong response to get some numbers at the box office. Janaka Aithe Ganaka will have an advantage of getting released on the festival day and it also has two days gap from Vettaiyan.
