The film tells the story of an 18-year-old schoolgirl named Binny, played by Anjini Dhawan who lives in London with her mother and father. She develops feelings for her schoolmate, only to find out that he has an interest in some other girl. Because of this, Binny is frustrated, and that’s when her grandparents arrive at her house. She gets irritated by their presence as she wants to have a private space and does not even consider their health issues. As Binny finds it tough to get adjusted with her parents and grandfather, a shocking twist lands in her life, and the rest of the story is how she reacts and overcomes the situation.
Anjini Dhawan did a decent job in her debut. Though her characterization does not offer much scope, she was able to impress in a few crucial scenes. Pankaj Kapur, the senior actor, shows his experience while Himani Shivpuri was too good. Rajesh Kumar and Charu Shankar were fine.
Director Ssanjay Tripaathy tried to make a sweet yet chaotic family drama with the concept of the generation gap between parents and children. In the film, the early generation gives much importance to the discipline while the second generation struggles to maintain and balance between the first and third generation with the third generation being not bothered about understanding elder generations. The director’s idea is good, but the execution left a lot to be desired in the first half, and it gained momentum in the latter half.
As said above, the film has some well-written episodes in the second half. There are some emotional and fun moments between the family which bring the required emotion. The production values are commendable for a small budget movie. The music if the film is not great, but it runs in line with the film’s narrative.
The film suffers from pace issues, particularly in the first half. It brings to a point that one gets frustrated about the dullness in the proceedings. Binny’s behavior does not look like authentic, as the reasons for anger or showing frustration on elders look silly.
