Bhavapoorna is out on OTT with a twist

Chetan Mundadi, an acclaimed filmmaker who has won a National Award, has recently made his film Bhavapurna available for streaming. The movie, starring Ramesh Pandit, is now accessible on Amazon Prime Video. However, it is currently only available for rent in the store. Viewers can rent Bhavapurna for Rs 79, granting them 30 days to watch the film and 48 hours to complete it once they have started.

The cast of the film includes Shylashree Aras, Atharva Prakash, Veenya Rai, Manjunath Hegde, Chethan Rai, Nagendra Shah, Shivaji Rao Jadhav, H K Murthy, M.K. Mata, Ramesh K Salagundi, Narayanswami, Pavan Kumar, and Bhavapurna. Set in 1990, the story revolves around Ramesh’s character, Dharmanna, who is employed at the local panchayat office and has to deal with a domineering wife. Following the funeral of a friend, he realizes the importance of leaving a photograph behind for his family to remember him after his passing. Nevertheless, Dharmanna fails to obtain a picture despite his diligent efforts, triggering a chain of events. The movie also features a secondary plotline revolving around the romance between Sekhari (Atharva Prakash) and Radhe (Veenya), a relationship that is not accepted by the latter’s father, Seenappa (Manjunath Hegde). Seenappa’s actions towards Sekhari contribute to one aspect of the narrative. Critics’ reviews of Bhavapurna after its cinema release highlight Ramesh Pandit as the heart and soul of the film.

Bhavapurna’s exclusive availability on the Prime Video store is probably due to the platform’s growing hesitance in acquiring Kannada content, typically opting for hybrid agreements lasting a limited time. Titles such as Orchestra, Mysuru!, and Daredevil Musthafa were accessible for streaming for six months, while Tagarupalya is speculated to have been subject to a similar arrangement.
