Do you remember a film released in 2008 that was reminiscent of Kamal Haasan’s 1996 film “Bharateeyudu,” but failed to generate interest despite high pre-release buzz? Well, Kollywood fans might not, but for Telugu-speaking people, especially fans, Balakrishna’s “Okka Magadu” remains unforgettable.
Even 16 years after its release, “Okka Magadu” still has scenes that go viral for their comedic value, becoming fodder for trolls. Now, it seems another film is joining this trend, unfortunately, it’s a direct sequel to “Bharateeyudu.”
Kamal Haasan’s “Bharateeyudu 2,” released on July 12th, opened to negative reviews and struggled even in its first weekend. The box office remains lackluster, and scenes meant to have impact are now turning into subjects of ridicule, particularly the introduction scene and a six-pack sequence. While it’s unfortunate to see such incidents happening, it also hints to the makers to take a bit more care.
