Manoj Bajpayee’s 100th film, Bhaiyya Ji, directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, had a previous collaboration with the actor on Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, which had a limited theatrical release. Bhaiyya Ji, a revenge drama, was released in cinemas on May 24, 2024, and had a sluggish start at the box office. Although there was a slight improvement on day 2, the movie did not experience significant growth on day three.
Based on initial calculations made by box office analysts, Bhaiyya Ji commenced with an opening of Rs 1.35 crore, while the film featuring Manoj Bajpayee generated Rs 1.75 crore. On the third day, the directorial work of Apoorv Singh Karki accumulated Rs 1.90 crore. Consequently, the overall box office earnings for Bhaiyya Ji have now reached Rs 5 crore net. Bhaiyya Ji received a varied response from both the viewers and reviewers, which might have contributed to the film’s lackluster performance at the box office thus far. For those unaware, Manoj’s previous venture, Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout, released on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium, also failed to resonate with the general audience.
Manoj Bajpayee had to perform stunts for some action sequences in the movie Bhaiyya Ji. When questioned by India Today about his affinity for action, the actor admitted that he realized his passion for it, albeit with considerable discomfort. He shared that he frequently sustained injuries and experienced body soreness. “The real challenge was to take care of myself properly and be prepared for the next day’s action. These were the obstacles I encountered daily and had to overcome each time. The truth is, I have never received formal training in action. S Vijayan, our action director, and my director, Apoorva Singh Karki, had immense faith in me,” he explained.
