Mohanlal has been in the news lately for his visit to the landslide-affected areas of Wayanad, Kerala, accompanied by his army regiment. The Malayalam superstar, who unveiled a special aid package for Wayanad through his charitable trust, Viswa Santhi Foundation, has now returned to his packed filming schedule. Recent updates reveal that Mohanlal is currently in Mumbai overseeing the final post-production of Barroz, his much-awaited directorial debut slated for an Onam release.
Barroz, Mohanlal’s much-awaited directorial debut, is set to hit theaters in September 2024 after facing significant delays. A substantial portion of the film’s post-production was carried out at Sony Studios Hollywood. The renowned actor temporarily paused his acting career to travel to the USA earlier this year and oversee the VFX aspects of the movie. Recent reports indicate that the remaining post-production work for the 3D fantasy film is close to being finished at a well-known studio in Mumbai. Recently, a private viewing of the highly anticipated Barroz 3D trailer took place at a PVR screen in Mumbai. Mohanlal, cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, and other team members attended the screening. Rumor has it that the official launch of the Barroz trailer will occur at the IIFA Utsavam event scheduled for September 6, 2024. The glamorous event will be hosted in Abu Dhabi on September 6th and 7th, 2024. Stay tuned for an upcoming official announcement regarding the release date of the Barroz trailer.
Barroz, adapted from Jijo Punnoose’s famous novel Barroz: Guardian Of D’Gama’s Treasure, stars director Mohanlal in the lead role. Following writer Jijo’s departure due to creative variances with the actor-director, Kalavoor Ravikumar was brought on board as an additional scriptwriter. Santhosh Sivan serves as the film’s cinematographer. Lydian Nadhaswaram composed the music. Antony Perumbavoor produced this much-awaited project under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner.
