Bad Newz, starring Vicky Kaushal, Tritpii Dimri, and Ammy Virk, opened in theatres on July 19 to mixed reviews. The romantic comedy, which Anand Tiwari directed, continued to stay steady at the box office on its opening weekend. The film crossed the Rs. 30 crore mark over the weekend. Besides the lead cast, the film also has interesting cameos by Ananya Panday and Neha Sharma.
The film managed to collect over Rs. 19.crore during its first two days and has now garnered near to Rs. 12 crore on its third day, Sunday, as per industry trackers. This brings the film’s total earnings to Rs. 31 crore Net, and the Gross will be nearly 37 Crore in India. Bad Newz is currently ranked as the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024 for its opening weekend, following Fighter, Shaitaan, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Crew, and Kalki 2898 AD. The movie achieved an overall occupancy rate of 29% in Hindi on Sunday. Showing stronger performance during afternoon and evening screenings compared to night shows, the film faces its true challenge starting today, Monday, as it transitions into the weekday phase. The film’s storyline centers on the uncommon occurrence of heteropaternal superfecundation, in which a single mother conceives children from two different fathers. Tritpii Dimri portrays the mother in the film, while Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk play the roles of the two fathers. The Songs, Confusion Comedy worked well for the film, and Vicky Kaushal’s energetic performance, along with Tripti Dimri’s charm, made it an engaging affair.
