Bad Newz Movie 1st and 2nd Report

“Prolonged bad news with brief laughs and lagging feelings”

Firstly, for us to connect with the subject, the characters should make a strong impact. In this complicated plotline, scenes leading to it should be well written. Here, in this triangular story between Vicky Kaushal, Tripti, and Ammy Virk, from the beginning to the climax, it feels like Vicky and Tripti were the main leads. Ammy’s characterization was so poorly developed that the makers utilized him only for comedy, which worked only in parts.

After witnessing all the drama and separations between the lead pair, Ammy’s scenes with Tripti were handled carelessly, making it tougher when the emotional route of the story takes place. As far as humor is concerned, it’s okay to deal with, but when it is the other way around, it feels horrible since we already know who is leading here.

Tripti’s characterization was good, and her performance skills were very impressive as she put herself upfront with the film by stating she is not here just for the sake of glamour. However, her goal of getting the Meraki Award, especially in the scenes where she gets reviewed, seems illogical. We get to know that her achievement is not based on the food’s quality, but a dramatic meaning would actually do it for her.

The most comedic moment was when Tripti was asking for a selfie with Ananya Pandey.

Overall Verdict: Well! As far as the humor is concerned, there were a few highs here and there but not entirely, as some of it does not even work, and the emotional part of the story always lags. If you ask me, well! This turned out to be ‘Bad Newz’.

1st half: Below Average

The film kicks off with a regular love story featuring a few laughs here and there, coupled with more of Tripti’s glam show. As the film progresses, it fails to fully commit to either full-fledged comedy or a serious track, resulting in a mix of both that, combined with some lags, gives off more of a TV serial vibe.

Unlike “Good Newz,” where full-fledged comedy takes the forefront immediately and the main plot enters earlier, this “Bad Newz” sticks to its title. The scenes leading to the main plot are not encouraging; however, a relief comes when the actual concept starts, making the interval track interesting. Humor is expected to take a pivotal role in the latter half.

Tripti, despite being a glam doll in the beginning, impresses with her performance skills as the film progresses. While Vicky Kaushal does justice to his role, Ammy Virk doesn’t have much to do, and his performance is below par.

Hoping for a better latter half.

2nd half: Below Average

Except for a few laughs here and there, there’s nothing much to get impressed by, as the complicated story falters when the emotional part takes center stage. The characterizations, especially of Ammy Virk and his chemistry with Tripti, lack any impact.

Don’t even compare it with “Good Newz.” Despite not being a direct sequel, while the makers are projecting it as a franchise, the treatment is not the same.

Note:* It’s a personal opinion. It will not be based on it’s film run or the talk on the other side.
