Bad Newz, starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk, continues to perform well at the box office. The romantic comedy garnered a mix of positive and negative reviews, has successfully completed its first week, surpassing the Rs 50 crore mark, and is now on track to reach Rs 60 crore. The film was released on July 19 amidst high anticipation and earned over Rs 8.5 crore on its opening day. Subsequently, it raked in Rs 10.5 crore and Rs 12 crore over the weekend. Despite a slight decline during the weekdays, Bad Newz has maintained its momentum.
As per the trade reports, Bad Newz generated a net revenue of Rs 1.50 crore on its twelfth day, bringing its overall earnings to Rs 56.5 crore. The film is maintaining consistent performance despite the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Coming from a big banner like Dharma Productions and having a crazy lead couple in the form of Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri, Bad Newz was expected to be a solid hit at the box office by minting around 130-150 Crore in its lifetime, but it seems the comedy-drama will eventually settle at the halfway of the expected number in its closing.
Bad Newz is the spiritual successor to the 2019 movie Good Newwz, which starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani. While Good Newwz focused on two couples’ experiences with in vitro fertilization, Bad Newz explores the concept of heteropaternal superfecundation, where twins are born to the same mother but have different biological fathers.
