Story:

In the opening scene, we see convict Krishna, acted by Ajay Devgn, reluctant to exit prison. Having received a double murder sentence, he has been incarcerated for 23 years. The core of the movie revolves around his motive for committing the crime and his reunion with Vasudha (Tabu), his former love, along with the events that follow.

Performances:

Ajay Devgn doesn’t have to work hard for his character. All he has to do is remain his contemplative self, which he does easily. Tabu delivers a solid performance, and it is a simple task for her as well. Jimmy Sheirgill was fine. Shantanu stands out as a reliable actor who adds an exceptional charm to the younger version of Krishna. Saiee Manjarekar receives a significant role as younger Vasudha that allows her to shine, and she takes full advantage of the opportunity.

Analysis:

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha represents a unique mix of the universal and non-traditional ideas. The film’s narration illustrates the impulsive nature of youthful love, and it further shows that with age, love develops into a more practical aspect of life. However, the director’s intent is execution match only in a few instances which makes the film a uninteresting.

Positives:

Ajay Devgn and Tabu both carry the film on their shoulders. Their performance and screen presence add value to the film. Along with a few valuable lovable moments between the lead pair in the latter half, AMKDT likewise has some great fun moments. Witty one-liners and playful references make great additions to the film. The theater was filled with cheers when Ajay’s friend turns on the car radio, playing ‘Jeeta Tha Jiske Liye’ from his film Dilwale.

Negatives:

On the surface, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’s plot sounds interesting, but after an exciting start, the film sounds like it is going nowhere. The first half of the movie gives a stretched feel, while an important sequence at the interval cones across as predictable. The second half presents the same series of events viewed from various perspectives three times, yet it falls short in delivering the required sense of intrigue. The last twist is better, but it could have been handled better.

Rating: 2.5/5

Last Line: Auro Mein Kahan Dum Tha—A Genuine but an Over Exhausted Drama
