AP High court gives regular bail to Naidu

The Andhra Pradesh high court on Monday granted regular bail to former chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development case. The regular bail would come into force from November 29, as he is on interim bail till November 28.

The court asked Chandrababu Naidu to submit his medical bills and reports to the ACB court in Vijayawada instead of Rajamahendravaram Central jail superintendent. The court also said that the conditions imposed on Naidu would get relaxed after November 29.

The court said that the prosecution could not prove that Chandrababu Naidu would influence the witnesses in the case. Justice T Mallikharjuna Rao, who heard the arguments said that Naidu is under the Z Plus security provided by the Central government and there is no scope for him to influence anyone.

The judge also observed that Chandrababu Naidu would not come in the way of investigation of the case. Naidu had been outside the jail for 22 months when the case was filed, and investigation started.

Earlier, advocates representing Chandrababu Naidu said that the government and the CID was misleading the court. They further said that the CID officials were functioning as directed by the politicians.

However, additional advocate general Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy told the court that Naidu had violated the conditions laid in the interim bail. He took out rallies from Rajamahendravaram to Vijayawada and later in Hyderabad, Sudhakar Reddy told the court.

Taking all these aspects into consideration, he requested the court not to give him bail.
