After almost nine months since its theatrical debut, Akelli has finally secured its OTT collaborator. JioCinema has announced that on May 3, 2024, they will exclusively stream the premiere of this thrilling drama film from 2023, featuring the talented Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead role. Directed by Pranay Meshram, Akelli delves into the harrowing journey of an ordinary Indian girl, whose life takes an unexpected turn as she becomes entangled in a war-ravaged society.
Raafiq, portrayed by Nishant Dahiya, is a garment factory employee who played a crucial role in aiding Jyoti (Nushrratt Bharuccha) in her escape in the movie Akelli. The film also includes Amir Boutrous as Wahab, an additional ISIS commander, Tsahi Halevi as Assad, a prominent ISIS commander, and Rajesh Jais as Ranjit Chawla. Akelli, a narrative inspired by the real-life experiences of a woman from the Middle East, portrays a tale of resilience, unwavering belief, and unwavering resolve. During a conversation with the media, Nushrratt previously discussed Akelli, expressing her disbelief in being able to successfully portray a character in a film like this while reminiscing about her experiences on set. However, she has indeed accomplished it; whenever she views a scene featuring her, she experiences an overwhelming surge of emotion that is incomprehensible to others. Consequently, working on this film has been a delightful experience for the actor. Nushrratt worked together with Israeli actors on the movie.
