Ajit Kumar has lined up a couple of big projects to treat his fans with a double treat, as there are going to be two new releases within the span of 6 months. One of these is “Vidaa Muyarchi,” directed by Magizh Thirumani, which is slated to hit the screens during Diwali 2024. The other film, titled “Good Bad Ugly,” directed by Adhik Ravichandran, is set to release for Sankranti 2025.
Sankranti is a significant festival for the film industry, where many films look to cash in on the festive season. It’s common for star heroes to line up their films to test their luck at the box office during this time. Usually, each industry has its own releases, and Telugu-dubbed versions of Tamil films often don’t get released in Telugu regions due to a lack of available theatres, as most are reserved for straight Telugu films.
Sankranti 2025 is already shaping up to be interesting, with Chiranjeevi’s “Vishwambhara,” Venkatesh’s project with Anil Ravipudi, and Balakrishna’s project with Bobby all eyeing a release. Ajit Kumar’s “Good Bad Ugly,” being a Tamil film, is bankrolled by Telugu producers Mythri Movie Makers.
At a recent event, when a media personality asked the producer whether they are planning a simultaneous release of the Tamil and Telugu versions of “Good Bad Ugly” despite heavy competition with straight Telugu films, the producer stated that there won’t be a problem with the parallel release since the Tamil version is already locked for the festival. It looks like Ajit is up for the challenge of taking on Tollywood stars in the Sankranti 2025 race.
