Aham Reboot Movie Review & Rating

“An experiment with partial success”

Sumanth’s “Aham Reboot,” upon its announcement, had the makers remaining pin-drop silent about its status. With no promotional signs, a sudden trailer was released, and the film was out the very next day on an OTT platform. This surprised me, especially since it came from a well-known actor from a reputed family. Anyways, since it’s now available, here are my thoughts about the film.

The story revolves around a protagonist who is accused of being a drug peddler, with a guilt-ridden past haunting him. He works as a radio jockey, and fortunately, his job helps him overcome the depression that has plagued him for a long time.

The entire film, which lasts 1 hour and 31 minutes, takes place in a single room where Sumanth sits, performing his job as a radio jockey and dealing with a worried victim who calls him. This setup works well, showcasing Sumanth’s decent performance skills and giving him the opportunity to impress with his acting. He is perfectly suited for the role.

The beauty of the film lies in its ability to test the viewers’ imagination. If they connect with the content, the conversation between the protagonist and others through a traced call keeps them engaged throughout.

While this experimental approach by the makers is commendable, they missed a crucial point regarding the victim’s role. Without revealing too much and spoiling the content, it’s evident that more care should have been taken. At one stage, the twist feels illogical or predictable, as it eventually turns out to be true during the climax. Since this twist is a key aspect of the film, its predictability is a major drawback, making the experimental effort work only in parts.

Sumanth’s hairstyle did not suit him, but fortunately, it was mostly covered throughout the film.

Overall Verdict: It’s a smart revenge story with an intellectual twist that ignites interest among viewers, depending on how well they connect with the content. If the twist is already anticipated, the effort may seem fruitless. Considering the direct OTT release and the shorter runtime, it’s worth giving a try.
