Arun (Arun Dev) is the elder son of Satya Prasad (Vishwadev Rachakonda) and becoming Saraswathi (Nivetha Thomas). Arun is a sixth class student, but he cannot understand maths and asks the logic behind calculating math using numbers. Chankaya (, Priyadarshi), a new teacher who is appointed as the maths teacher, scolds Arun for asking unusual questions. Troubles start for Arun and his parents because of his weakness in maths and the rest of the story is how Arun passes Maths with the help of his mother.
Nivetha Thomas played the lead role in 35 and she has done a remarkable job. Her dialogue delivery and expressions are precise. Vishwadev Rachakonda was also impressive as a doting father and lovable husband. Priyadarshi does a good job as a strict teacher. Arun Dev, who played the main character, had done an excellent job, while the other kids also did their part well. Senior actors like BhagyaRaj and Gautami made their presence felt even with a shorter runtime.
35 — Chinna Katha Kaadhu is directed by Nanda Kishore Emani. He had a good command over the narration of the film. The initial establishment of Saraswathi, Arun and family is perfect. The proceedings in school also work because of the well blended tone. Though the slow pace hampers the feel here and there, Nanda ensures that the required emotion is in fact from the starting point of the second half, and it never comes down.
The performances from the lead cast, heartfelt emotional scenes and perfectly fitted in humor are the plus points of the film. Though the proceedings on screen appear basic to some, the direction could convey that those are life-changing issues for the film’s characters. The Climax episode is handled perfectly without going into preachy or message giving mode. The music (both songs and background score) is unique as it never sidelines from the film, but it is in perfect sync with the film’s flow.
The film’s slow pace on occasions acts as a small spoilsport. Moreover, the angry reaction of Prasad at a crucial juncture cones across like a bit rushed.
