2024: South Indian Biggies to arrive Post-Summer

As of now, we are four months into the year 2024, and there is a noticeable absence of major movies and blockbusters. The Sankranthi season in Telugu concluded with mostly average films, with the exception of HanuMan. The Summer period, which is usually packed with big movies, did not see a single star hero’s release. However, movies such as Tillu Square and Gaami have performed satisfactorily. Looking ahead, there is a promising lineup of highly anticipated movies from South Indian superstars scheduled for release.

Prabhas, the renowned superstar of India, is all set to release his sci-fi thriller Kalki 2898 AD in June. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie has created a buzz with its stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone. Indian 2, the sequel to the classic hit Indian, starring Kamal Haasan, is also scheduled for release in June. The collaboration between Shankar and Kamal Haasan has raised high anticipation for Indian 2 among the audience. Mammootty’s Turbo is scheduled to be released in June, while Vikram’s Thangalaan, a rustic period drama, will hit the screens in May. Dulquer’s Lucky Baskhar is set to release in July. The highly anticipated second part of the blockbuster Pushpa, titled Pushpa The Rule, will be released in August. The recently released glimpse of the film has left fans mesmerized. Pawan Kalyan’s OG is slated for a September release. Directed by Sujeeth, this non-remake film is one of Pawan Kalyan’s most recent projects. The Hungry Cheetah teaser has raised expectations to new heights.

Vijay’s GOAT is scheduled for an outing in September, while NTR’s Devara, directed by Joratala Siva, will be released in October. Devara marks Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu debut and is anticipated to be a sensational action drama. Rajinikath’s Vettaiyan and Ajith Kumar’s Vidaa Muyarchi are also set to release in October. Additionally, Ram Charan’s Game Changer, directed by Shankar, is planned for release in either October or December. Suriya’s period drama Kanguva and Balakrishna’s NBK109 are also slated for release in either October or December. As we look ahead to 2024, it remains to be seen how many of these superstar films will meet the expectations of the audience.
