Kannada Director Mansore is known for his National Award-winning films like Harivu and Nathicharami. For a long time, he pointed out the lack of interest in OTT platforms for his films. Nathicharami was bought by Netflix, but after the initial deal was over, the platform did not show any interest in renewing it, and it also ignored his latest film, 19.2.0.21. Mansore contacted many digital platforms, and his efforts went in vain. He made his movies available on smaller platforms attached to Mobile networks.
Somehow, the filmmaker managed to crack a deal with the major OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video. However, 19.20.21 is available on Prime Video on TVOD (transactional video on demand) only. The viewers can watch the film by paying Rs 99. The viewers can watch it within a 30-day window for a one-time purchase, and they have to finish watching the movie within 48 hours once it starts.
19.20.21 is based on the real-life story of journalist Vittala Malekudiya and his father, Linganna, who were arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in 2012. The police suspected them as Naxalites, and they were jailed for 4 months and investigated for years together. The duo was acquitted nine years later, and no action was taken against the police, who arrested them without any evidence. Mansore made the film as a documentary drama. Shrunga BV played Vittala, and Rajesh Nataranga, Mahadev Hadapad, Krishna Hebbale, Vishwa Karna, and Sampath Maitreya played other supporting roles.
